Hi, I’m Cassie and I love Mexico, adventures, getting outside my comfort zone, and helping others to do the same.

My family and I spent six months in Mexico in 2016 and during that time, decided that we needed to make Mérida our home so we found a way to make it a reality. We spent six glorious years living in Mérida.

In 2020 I wrote the definitive guide to moving to Mérida to help other people make the same move and in 2023, I wrote a fully updated second edition.

The impetus for me to write this Mérida book came when I realized that all our learning and mistake-making when we moved could help others have a smoother transition to living in Mérida – or elsewhere in Mexico. I want my book (and consultancy service) to make you feel as if a friend is holding your hand through the scary moments, the big decisions and even the small frustrations that are inevitable when you do brave things until you find your new community in Mérida.

What you’ll find in this Moving to Mérida book

Our Journey – what pushed us to leave the UK and what pulled us to make our new home in Mexico

The Kids – helping them settle in Mexico and what to consider before choosing their new school

Your Journey – from getting to Mexico legally to everything you need to set up your new home

Living in Mérida  – buying a car, finding the supermarkets, paying your utility bills and more

Once you’re all set up, use my Family Travel Guide to Yucatán to start exploring your new home!

And just in case you’re not entirely sold yet, check out some reviews of the first edition of Moving to Mérida:

“I moved my family from the USA to Mexico (though a different city) just over 3 years ago and this guide has it all for what you need to know to make your move a successful one. She not includes nearly every detail you need to know prior to moving here, but also how her family arrived at their decision to move to Mérida, stories about how the family adjusted, and even things you don’t even know you need to know!”

“Whether you’re hoping of, dreaming of or planning for your move, you need this book. As someone who made the move without this book, I can attest to how helpful and precise it is, making it a lifesaver. Cassie is able to deliver information that is not only accurate, but thorough and all with her own stories and humor scattered throughout. She answers questions you didn’t know you had and lays out information in a way that is easy and fun to read.”

“I learned quite a few things from Cassie Pearse’s book, Moving to Merida. It’s full of useful tips and recommendations, and the way she wrote it will frequently make you laugh, too! If you’re planning to move to Merida, or even have already relocated to the area, I’d highly recommend that you read this book. Parts are geared towards families moving to Merida, but whether you’re solo, don’t have kids, or yours are grown up, you’ll be able to get a lot out of this book.”
