Quick run down on the Seville airport

✈️ Seville’s airport is the sixth busiest airport in mainland Spain. It serves western Andalucía and much of southern Spain. Málaga, of course, has its own busy airport.

✈️ It is also known as the San Pablo airport and it primarily serves as a base for low cost carriers travelling around Europe, Vueling and Ryanair although EasyJet, TAP and others are represented here too.

✈️ The airport itself is not large. There is just one terminal building, with everyone arriving and leaving from the same building. How busy the airport is depends on the time of day, when peak hours are, and the time of year – for example, Semana Santa (holy week, leading up to Easter) can be extremely busy.

You will hear people using “Aeropuerto de Sevilla” – the Spanish for Seville airport.

Where is the Seville airport?

➡️ The airport is just 10 km (6.2 miles) from central Seville meaning that however you choose to travel into the city, your journey time will never be too long.

➡️ Many people, if they’re not taking the bus from Seville to the airport, like to stop off in either Alcalá de Guadaíra or Carmona, two gorgeous small towns on the way to the airport for a final explore or meal.

If you’re looking for the cheapest option to get from Seville airport to Seville city centre then without a doubt, public transportation is your answer.

EA Bus Line (Especial Aeropuerto)

Part of Tussam (Transportes Urbanos de Sevilla), this bus line is the only bus that serves Seville’s airport so let’s look at how it all works.

🚌  The two main bus stops are located at the Santa Justa train station (Seville’s main train station), and the Plaza de Armas bus station but there are other stops along the way including the Paseo Colón/Torre del Oro, which is helpful if you’re staying in Seville’s old town.

📌 This bus service takes around 35 minutes between the centre of the city and the airport

🚏 The bus stop at the airport is outside of arrivals on the ground floor. See below for the map of bus stops in central Seville.

⏰ The first bus of the day leaves the Plaza de Armas bus station bus stop at 4.30am. The last bus leaves the bus station at 0.05am.

⏰ The first bus to depart the airport is at 5.20am and the last bus to depart from the airport is at 1am.

Where to buy a bus ticket

€ You can buy your ticket on the ground floor (0) in the airport from a machine or directly from the bus driver.

💳 You can pay with cash or with credit/debit cards both at the machine and in person.

A single ticket costs €5 per person and a same day round trip €6.

📌 If you don’t have too much luggage, the airport bus is the easiest and cheapest way to get from the airport to the city. If, however, you are travelling with a lot of luggage or with small children, you may find a private transfer easier.

Let’s look now at the best way to manage taxis when you are arrive at Seville airport.

Airport taxi service options

Traditional airport taxis

🚕 As you leave the airport terminal after collecting your luggage you’ll find the official taxi rank right in front of you. Simply join the line and wait your turn. Note that official Seville airport taxis are white with a yellow stripe on the back doors.

€ It should cost around €25 to get a cab between the airport and the city during daytime hours (7 am – 9 pm) and a little more during weekends, at night time and during festivals such as Semana Santa. This is a flat fee and there is no supplement for suitcases or extra luggage.

💳 You can pay cash or with credit or debit cards in taxis in Spain.

📌 If you’re travelling with children who require a car seat you will need to book a private transfer with a taxi company such as Taxi Bambino who can provide this service.

Is there Uber at Seville airport?

🚕 There is. You can book an Uber at Seville airport if you wish.

Ubers are not picked up from the taxi rank but rather at the back of the car park on the ground floor. Your driver will send you instructions once your service is booked.

📌 Be very careful using Uber as I had a difficult experience with them at Seville airport and wound up being charged 3 times the price. I accepted my journey and was asked to input identification details as it was the first time I’d used my Uber account in Spain). I was given no warning that the price jumped x3 while I was doing this. Just watch out.

Private transfers from Seville airport

🚙 If you prefer to be met by a private airport transfer when you arrive in Seville this is absolutely possible with companies such as KiwiTaxi and Holiday Taxis. They will meet you in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name on it.

Can you take a train to Seville airport?

❌ The Sevilla airport is not served by a metro or train service.

🚂 The AE bus service runs between the airport and Santa Justa station so if you have a train to catch shortly after arriving in Sevilla you’ll be able to do this easily enough. Just leave a decent amount of travel time between the two in case of bad traffic. Normally it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes in a car or 40 minutes by bus.

Car Rental at Seville airport

🚗 If you’re arriving at Seville airport and immediately planning on driving elsewhere, such as Cádiz, Córdoba, Ronda, Gibraltar, Tarifa or Huelva, it’s possible to rent a car at the airport.

✅ All the regular rental companies are there so when you arrive (having pre-booked your car), head to the correct desk in the arrivals hall and complete your paperwork. Cars are found outside in a dedicated area of the car park – it’s all well signposted.
